How Low Self-esteem Reduce Your Self-confidence

There are many people who believe that there is no difference between self-esteem and confianza en uno mismo. Well, they are wrong. Self-confidence is just one element of self-esteem. Self-esteem is a term used to describe a sense of personal worth. On the other hand, self-confidence describes confidence that someone can successfully complete tasks and do different types of things.

The truth is that how we believe in yourself has a direct impact on your self-confidence and the overall quality of life you have. Having low self-esteem can reduce your self-confidence and when these two things are present it is quite easy for that person to become an underachiever. In other words, they have the knowledge and skills to succeed, but they simply dont believe in themselves.

Low self-esteem undermines confidence because people cant accept failure. They are so worried about failures that they are not even trying to do something. Individuals with a high level of self-esteem dont worry about failures. Instead of that, they spend the time to analyze the factors that contributed to the failure and try to eliminate them before they try again. This means that they are trying to learn from their mistakes/experiences. This is much more difficult than it sounds, but if you want to avoid the problems caused by negative thinking you must work on your self-esteem.

Self-esteem affects many aspects of our life including our self-confidence. People who lack self-esteem will always find excuses to avoid trying to succeed. Due to their low self-esteem, they are afraid that they will look ridiculous, ignorant or timid in the eyes of the others. We have all seen people like this in our life they just want to live their lives without getting much attention. They enjoy being unnoticed.

The way in which low self-esteem reduces self-confidence can be witnessed on a social gathering, conference and meetings of any type. People with low self-esteem usually separate themselves from the crowd and spend most of the time alone trying to be unnoticed (even though this is the best way to get attention from the others). On the other hand, individuals with high levels of self-esteem are usually in the focus and center of attention. People love talking to them and listening to their thoughts and ideas. So, those with low self-esteem are not confident around strangers.

But, this is not the worst problem related to these two things. Since low self-esteem undermines self-confidence there is always a chance that the individual could start abusing alcohol and/or drugs because they believe that these substances can help them with their confidence. Even though this is true in some cases, this is certainly not the answer because it can ruin the persons life in the long run. In the end, the small level of self-esteem that they have will be completely destroyed.

Building healthy self-esteem is a process that requires time, discipline and effort. However, this is a process that can transform your life and make you a better person.
